Fix it yourself
A co-worker's friend messaged her this morning telling her about a note he found on his wind shield last night after he came from dinner.
Sorry-not-sorry, for hitting your bumper, it is just small scratch so I
don't think it will cost too much to fix. And because you drive a gas guzzling
Jeep I'm sure you can afford to fix it yourself. Are you aware of the carbon
footprint your vehicle emits on our world? Please fix the scratch and donate to
Greenpeace. Maybe next time you shouldn't park so far from the curb and next time don't buy an irresponsible gas guzzling vehicle.

I was at the mall once, sitting in my car sending a text before I went in. Saw a car pull into a space and slam into the car in the space a head. I watched to see what they would do, she backed up and parked a few spaces down and sat in her car. I waited. She got out, and looked to be 17/18, this may have been the first time mom and dad let her have the car to meet friends at the mall/movies. She started pacing and was in panic mode. I got out, asked if she was ok, she replied with an "uh huh". I said I saw what happened and suggested she leave a note with her contact info. She agreed and then came the water works. Just balling and comes at me with those tears. She is standing infront of me crying and freaking out hysterically, people are looking at me like I'm an asshole, like I did something to this poor girl. I went and got a pen and paper and filled out her contact info for her and suggested she call her parents. Welp I ended up using her phone to call mom and tell her what happened and where. Mom then freaked out at me as if it was my fault, and I'm some rapist (didn't say it, but it was suggestively implied). I took some pictures and a picture of the girls drivers license.
I waited around and was talking to the girl to get her to calm down. Mom and dad show up, mom is in bitch mode and dad is trying to look at both cars while at the same time not looking super pissed.
I kind of stood on the outskirts, after a few minutes mom says "so you can probably go now". I'm thinking wtf, I just dealt with your random daughter crying and shit and helped her out with everything. And it's not like I'm a creepy scraggly dude. I was 24 at the time in a shirt and tie and had my city/work I.D badge hanging around my neck.
I was on my lunch break, which was long over at this point, so I ran in to the food court, got some dirty mall food and came back. They were gone, I made sure the note was still there, then went back to work.

What's the point of even leaving a note for hitting a car if you're just using it to be a dick? Not to say I've never tapped someone's bumper accidentally, but what made this guy "accidentally" hit a car and then decide "time to turn the asshole meter up to 11"?

Well done. Hopefully the young girl learned an important lesson from your actions. It doesn't seem like her mother was interested in teaching her any such lesson.
By far the most troubling shift in societal norms is the decreasing levels of personal accountability and responsibility. The mentality that it's always someone elses fault is becoming more pervasive and absolutely infuriates me. Perhaps the only thing worse than a simple "it's not my fault" is the attempt to justify or explain away responsibility for misconduct with some convoluted and asinine excuse or reason. In summation, I hope Tom G choked on his granola this morning.

Actually that reminds me of this time back in the summer when I was riding my bike down the street, and this woman was getting into her parked car, it was a newer Mitsubishi. This older guy literally just happening to be walking down the sidewalk at the same time and as he walked past her he took the opportunity to yell "Thanks for buying American, sweetheart." at her as she was getting in her car. Who does that shit?

I hear you. The thought of running, as someone did when they hit me, (right after I had spent $2000 repairing my car from someone ELSE backing into me) did cross my mind. He was definitely parked in a ridiculous spot, but still, he was parked. I could have gone around, and clearly did not, so just take your lumps. The driver said "he really appreciated it".

I actually just had the same thing happen a few nights ago. Had my car parked in the street and came out in the morning to see this. I'm not mad, just annoyed and sad. It's like they hit my baby.
